Pociatek Pohar 2010

The 10th Pociatek Pohar tournament took place on 25th September and commenced with the opening draw which saw both Akkies teams paired together in Group I along with tournament hosts TIP, Takeda and IDS Scheer. The other group looked a far more challenging group with 2008 winners 2 FC Tryskac, three times winners SEWS and 2009 runners-up Anasoft joining the Rebels and Alcatel-PPA.

Some surprise results saw the Akkies 2 team knock-out the Akkies 1 team in their final group match as they beat group winners Takeda 2-0 while in the other group the Rebels beat the holders to finish top of Group II. The 2008 winners 2 FC Tryskac were sent home early eventually finishing in last place having lost against Alcatel 4-1; they can claim to have the highest scoring average though with a whopping 9 goals scored in only 4 games.

No surprises in the quarter finals as all favourites went through, but the Rebels who had won their group found it tough going against the Akkies 2 and only sneaked through on penalties winning 1-0.

TIP met the Rebels in the semis and booked their place in the final for the 2nd time thanks to a brace from Kukol. Takeda lost out in the semis on penalties to the holders SEWS having drawn the match 1-1.

Takeda made up for the disappointment of not progressing through to the final by thumping the Rebels in the 3rd place match winning 5-0.

The final match-up was similar to that of 2002, however TIP were on a mission to bring the cup back home. Top goal scorer (10goals ) Miso Kukol put the underdogs ahead and the game was won with barely moments to go as Lubo Kovac made it two. 2010 winners and new holders of the Pociatek Pohar are Team Ivan Pociatek (TIP)

Only four of the ten teams (TIP, Rebels FC, SEWS and Akkies) that played this year have been ever present at each of the 10 tournaments.
