Pociatek Pohar 2009

The 12th tournament and 9th Pociatek Pohar was on Saturday 12th September 2009. Once again ten teams competed for the trophy with IDS Scheer filling in the slot vacated by Najlepsie z Liptova and Alcatel PPA stepping in last minute to fill the void left by RAF Boulmer who pulled out.

Holders 2 FC Tryskac were keen to defend their cup and topped their group with 2 wins and 2 draws only conceding once. The four qualification spots were keenly contested and the Akkies were unfortunate not to qualify only losing out on goal difference to TIP and Wilderness.

In the other group, SEWS were determined to make amends for last year's early exit in the quarters losing 2-1 to arch-rivals Wilderness on penalty kicks and won all four games going into the quarters top. IDS Scheer were left rueing missing star player Rafael Tomanek as the side failed to make the quarters losing all four games.

The seeded teams all went through from the quarters. SEWS dispatched of TIP with the third goal being shot from the half-way line by Stano Fancovic into an empty net as TIP looked to get back into the game in the closing minutes. 2 FC Tryskac found Alcatel tough to pass and only just won 2-1. Anasoft playing only their 3rd tournament might light work of three-times winners Wilderness as they won convincingly 6-1. In the last quarter-final match-up, the Rebels lost out by the odd goal and once again find the hurdle of getting to the semis far too tough.

The semis proved to be close contests with Anasoft knocking out the holders 2 FC Tryskac 2-1 in the semis to reach their first final. SEWS booked their seventh final in eight years by beating Takeda 1-0 in the other semi.

2 FC Tryskac won the 3rd place match with a 3-1 win while SEWS earned their 3rd title winning by the odd goal 1-0. SEWS now join Wilderness both having won the competition 3 times!
