Pociatek Pohar 2007

The 10th tournament and 7th Pociatek Pohar was on Saturday 22nd September 2007. Team RAF Boulmer flew in from north England to participate in their first tournament and Anasoft were also a new side and were a late introduction due to a slight misunderstanding with the Akkies 2nd team registration.

Despite only having four players, Team RAF Boulmer lost the first two games and then amazingly after a rethink of tactics, won the next two and qualified 2nd in the group; most memorable was the 3-0 spanking they gave TIP. In the other group, holders SEWS seemed to be having a tough time and lost against Wilderness and Anasoft. However, a draw against 2 FC Tryskac and a win against eventual bottom side Alcatel was enough to see SEWS qualify in 4th spot.

Takeda having won group I with 3 wins and a draw then found themselves up against SEWS in the quarters. SEWS made amends for defeats in the group and won 2-1. Another quarter-final match-up saw TIP against 2 FC Tryskac in what was an amazing come back cheered on by some great support. 2 FC went ahead with an early goal only for TIP to equalise in the 2nd half and then pinch a winner with only moments to go! The Raf lad did superbly, but the lack of subs paid the price and they lost in the quarters 2-4 to Anasoft. Wilderness progressed in the other match beating Rebels 1-0.

In the semis, TIP conceded early against SEWS and while trying to get back into the game, TIP left spaces at the back and the third goal was scored brilliantly by Stano Fancovic with an audacious chip from his own half. Wilderness won the other semi against new boys Anasoft 2-1 setting up a very familiar final against SEWS.

TIP and Anasoft played out a 1-1 draw in the 3rd placed match and TIP then took the honours with a 2-0 penalty win. In the final, Wilderness won 3-0 and became the first side to win the tournament 3 times.
